The 36 lbs. she lost helped her survive a heart attack

When I began my program at Petteruti Bariatric Medicine I was tired and worn out with normal daily activity.  Walking more then a short distance was difficult for me and I would quickly become short of breath. Here I was, just 46 years old, yet I was tired all time.

My doctor suggested I lose weight by enrolling with Petteruti Bariatric Medicine and meeting with a bariatric counselor. We started meeting each week, talking and changing a few habits at a time. With support from Dr. Petteruti and my nutritional changes, I lost 36 lbs. I felt better, monitored my weight at home, and began the maintenance program.

Then the unthinkable happened. I became ill, developed an infection and had a heart attack at the age of 47. Doctors at the hospital said my previous weight loss had helped save me and diminish any damage to my heart. I was lucky!

After my illness, I fell back into old habits. I was home more often and less active then ever. With poor eating habits and a constant lack of exercise, my weight started to go up and my energy went down.

I needed to do something soon! I called for a fresh start with Petteruti Bariatric Medicine and was back on track quickly. We looked back at where I got off-track and made adjustments from there. They helped me realize that physical activity was important for my health all year and that although sports during spring and summer were good, they were not going to be enough. I also needed to make changes in my food shopping and my choices when eating out.

That was two years ago. I’ve lost 47 lbs since I began the Bariatric program and I’ve never felt better. No more excuses- skipping a meal is no longer an option. Now, I make something ahead of time that will work with my crazy schedule. I make time for lunch and eat three meals a day.

If you want to live life to the fullest, you need to be happy with yourself. My health is better and I feel great, I would suggest this program for anyone.
